Bransford Garden Plants was founded in 1963 by Farmer and International Camellia expert, John Tooby. The Tooby's had farmed in Worcestershire for generations and the plant nursery was seen as a natural development following the demise of the fruit industry during the late 1950's.
'Bransford Nursery', as the business was then known, was one of the first places in the UK where plants were grown in containers as opposed to in the field. This foresight helped spearhead the UK's container plant revolution.
By the early nineteen eighties it was decided to concentrate solely on nursery stock production. Since then the nursery has expanded, developing both its field and container grown stock production. The size of the nursery's production area now exceeds 23 hectares, enabling Bransford to sell 1 million plants to garden centres each year.
The nursery is renowned for it's successful promotions of new plant varieties and branded plant collections of trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses and perennials. As such Bransford Garden Plants has become one of the nations leading suppliers of quality garden plants into garden centres nationwide.
